Jump start your creative juices with two-time AWS Gold Medal of Honor winner and author of the popular book “Celebrate Your Creative Self”. Learn painting skills such as threading, layering, underpainting, resists, and staining. Beam promotes the use of experimentation with various materials to broaden the student’s knowledge of available techniques for a clear expression of their ideas. Students will be urged to identify and strengthen their personal, unique painting styles by using the most meaningful design formats for their goals. Daily demos are on-going as is a lively discussion of alternative strategies for accomplishing a variety of outcomes. By week’s end, each student presents his/her portfolio of paintings to the class for sharing and evaluation. Mary Todd Beam’s work appears in many books on painting and in many periodicals. Beam is an elected member of AWS, NWS, OWS and several other organizations. She has served as juror for many national, state and regional exhibits. Beam is working on a new book to be published in 2009.
