Still life painting in
oil is a wonderful way to explore the beauty
of working from life while learning how to
apply paint that adds a supple brilliancy to
a painting. Leah will demonstrate how to
begin a painting with a beautifully designed
setup. She will explain how taking the time
to observe the movement of light over the
whole setup and recognizing the similarities
and relationships will help to simplify your
approach. Then she’ll illustrate how the use
of deliberate paint strokes, light, shadow,
color and edge variations an artist can not
only create harmony and dimension but also
tell a beautiful story.
Leah Lopez is an award
winning artist whose paintings have been
displayed in various national and
international exhibitions including the
Salon International, American Women Artists,
Allied Artists of America, SAS Best and
Brightest, and Miniatures at The Albuquerque
Museum. Since 2000, Leah has had the
privilege of teaching drawing and painting
to students of all ages. She is also proudly
represented by galleries across the
Southwest.
