Ruth Butler
Ruth Butler has produced, taught and written about ceramics for more than thirty years. Her interest in clay developed while she was a journalism student at Ohio State University. While completing a journalism degree she also enrolled in all of the ceramics classes available at that time followed by three consecutive courses in individual study. She taught classes in Charleston, South Carolina’s Gibbes Museum of Art School and Ashley Hall. Throughout her career she has participated in regional and national ceramics organizations, has attended numerous workshops with leaders in the field and served as juror for several exhibitions including the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts National Ceramic Competition. She now maintains a studio at her home in Sedona.
